Event Summary:

Technological advancements that impact critical infrastructure continue to occur at a rapid pace, including everything from drive-by payment systems to self-driving cars. These technologies and the data they provide promise improvements in efficiency, safety, environmental impact, and other applications and improvements of which we have not previously thought. Embracing and enabling these new technologies requires a careful assessment of associated rights and liabilities.  This includes data protection and cyber risks.  Much of this technology will interact with critical public infrastructure, including toll roads.  Toll roads are already computerized, and collect significant amounts of data, and are therefore exposed to cyber risk.  Toll road operators need to understand and address those risks now, and develop legal frameworks for harnessing the data that toll roads will generate with new technologies. This talk will discuss key risks and developments and how to anticipate changes to the risk and regulatory landscape for critical public infrastructure.
