Low commodity prices have caused volatility in emerging market currencies and contributed to a temporarily stall in investment, but private equity markets focused on Latin America financial markets are well-funded. Given the strength of the dollar and a growing demand for infrastructure fuelled by rapid urbanization, a resurgence of project finance into Latin America seems inevitable. Yet uncertainty persists and future investment will occur within a highly volatile context of political change, regulatory instability, and anti-corruption fervour. While the Latin American market is promising for investors, it has never been more important to properly analyse the social, economic, and political complexities at play.
