Event Summary:

"ASEAN countries are investing in new airports and upgrading existing ones to cope with rising demand and increasing capacity. The private sector is playing a role in airports development through PPP arrangements and concessions, and as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors. More private sector participation is being solicited. Over the next five years, at least $33 billion will be needed in the region to spend on building and expanding airports". (ASEAN and UNCTAD, ASEAN Investment Report 2015)

According to some reports, over the next ten years, Asia is expected to lead the growth trajectory for global air travel and by 2030, is likely to account for 40.6 per cent of all air travel globally, up from 27.6 per cent today. This will require significant expansion of the airport infrastructure to accommodate this growth, which offers substantial opportunities for developers, contractors and operators, advisers and financiers. This seminar will look at the drivers for growth (including an analysis of the impact of the ASEAN "Open Skies" Policy), the drivers for investment and how market participants can best position themselves to make the most of the substantial pipeline of opportunities in the ASEAN region.
