What a difference a year makes! Less than twelve months ago the renewable energy industry was in turmoil with the Renewable Energy Target under a cloud of uncertainty, ARENA and the CEFC hanging on by the grace of the minority parties in parliament, a slew of investigations and commissions into health effects of wind power, and an overall anti-renewables sentiment within the Federal Government – all of which was manifesting in a lack of new project opportunities. Roll forward to today and we have a new agreed Renewable Energy Target, a change of prime minister which has altered the government sentiment to renewables and several new renewables programmes underway – including the ACT wind auctions, the Ergon Energy solar tender and the ARENA solar grant program. A panel will discuss specific opportunities for renewable energy projects and the outlook for the sector.
