Event Summary:

In October 2015 Tanzania elected John Pombe Magufuli as its President, with part of his mandate being that he would oversee an acceleration of infrastructure and energy projects.  The Magufuli effect is indeed already being felt, with LNG project negotiations picking up pace, the tendering of the standard gauge railway from Dar es Salaam to Kigali, the decision for Tanzania to host the Uganda oil pipeline, the approval of the small power projects framework, and the recent announcement of a gas IPP for public procurement as a precursor to a wider power sector competitive bidding programme.

This event hosted by IPFA and Norton Rose Fulbright will debate the upcoming energy and infrastructure projects in Tanzania and in particular will consider:

 - The effect of PPP legislation on infrastructure and power projects in Tanzania and Kenya
 - Assessing the viability of projects in Tanzania – what is needed to kick start an infrastructure and energy boom?
 - Availability of government support on projects in East Africa – is it always required to ensure bankable projects?

We are delighted to announce the keynote address will be delivered by TANESCO's Managing Director, Eng. Felchesmi Mramba.
