Event Summary:

Please note the timings for this event have changed to start at 2:00pm.

Despite the obvious strong need for infrastructure finance in Africa there are still many sceptics who claim that the risks are just too high. However, there are players in the market who have proven that these risks are manageable. Meridiam, Hermes and KfW IPEX-Bank have such track record and will provide an insight into the lessons they have learned in Africa.

This event will thus focus on:

- How to minimize risk from the very beginning by selecting the “right” project?

- How to mitigate country risk?

- Which structuring elements / risk mitigation tools are available and accepted in the market to reduce economic risk?

- In Africa, infrastructure often is still very much in the hands of government: how can project finance elements best be utilized in financing infrastructure

- Case studies on lessons learned.
