The debt capital markets for project finance in Spain is once again showing signs of life following a number fallow years post the global financial crisis. Whether for refinancing previous projects or executing new deals in the primary markets, institutional investors are awash with liquidity and hungry for yield. However the risks facing project debt investors in Spain need careful examination given recent experience with early concession terminations, regulatory changes and restructurings.
