Event Summary:

Over the past 3 years, Rotterdam has been preparing a bid to host the World Expo in 2025, an event that tackles global problems through innovation and cultural exchange. World Expo Rotterdam 2025 supports the move towards a new sustainable reality. The key question is: how do we create an economy that is not only greener and more resilient, but also fairer? For this reason, the theme of World Expo Rotterdam 2025 is Changing Currents. Leendert Bikker, the Executive Director of the team responsible for the bid, will present his views on the bid, the sizeable project and investment pipeline it will produce  and the unwillingness of the government to support the bid. With an eye on next year’s general elections, he will also share his ideas on how a comprehensive investment programme for the Netherlands could be organized and what role the campaign called “NL Next Level: Investing in the transformation of the Netherlands” could take in this. This campaign was initiated recently by the representative bodies of Dutch industry (VNO-NCW, MKB, LTO).
