Event Summary:

Solar Energy has enjoyed a swift and well-documented transformation from a high cost, experimental technology to a mature, competitive energy source across the globe.  While until now Ireland’s primary pathway to renewable power production has been through onshore wind energy, the drastic reduction in the cost of solar photo voltaic (PV) technology has prompted many to consider solar PV as a complementary source of renewable power.   Following a keynote address on the economics of solar PV in Ireland and the system impacts associated with it from UCD Energy Institute, a panel of experts will discuss the opportunities for solar deployment in Ireland, including the potential returns, and the rationale for and structure of any future financial support schemes.
