Event Summary:

Across the world, project developers are facing increasing requirements from financial institutions to assess, mitigate and disclose the potential sustainability risks and impacts of their projects. Failure to adequately consider these risks and impacts early on in their project design can delay or completely impede financing. For lenders, it’s becoming all the more critical to ensure that the projects receiving financing have met global environmental and social performance standards in order to protect reputation, de-risk investments, and contribute to more sustainable project outcomes.

We invite you to join a panel of leaders in the world of finance and project development at a breakfast session discussion to explore the key sustainability elements that need to be considered and addressed in order to successfully progress a project to financial close. There will be an exchange of viewpoints and experiences with leading developers and lenders related to the subtle intricacies of the lender approval process – particularly in an African context.

The following discussion points will be covered by the panellists:

- What do developers need to have in place - at what level of detail and at which stage?
- What does a lender’s Environmental and Social appraisal process include?
- Examples of best and worst practice.
- What are the emerging and future trends in lender requirements?
- Alignment between lenders and borrowers in E&S performance.
