Event Summary:

Government support is not only an enabler of, but often also a key bankability criterion in African infrastructure and energy projects. It is often evidence of government investment enabling credit insurance.  As governments have come under increasing financial pressure, many have been reluctant to accept the levels of risk and contingent liability they accepted in the past by way of government support. Some governments are changing the standard format of the government letter of support. On some deals, more innovative structures, like a government put and call option, are being put in place. Investors need to find alternative risk mitigation strategies.

Join us for a panel discussion, hosted by A&O South Africa, where we talk to lenders and DFIs about the trends they are experiencing, and what sort of government support, or government support equivalent, they need in order successfully to meet infrastructure and energy requirements across the African continent.
