Event Summary:

The International Project Finance Association (IPFA) would like to announce our next event in Johannesburg, entitled ‘IPFA South Africa: Paving the Way Forward for the Future Energy Footprint: Challenges and Opportunities’. This briefing will kindly be hosted by corporate member Development Bank of Southern Africa on Wednesday 19 March 2014.

Energy demand in South Africa has been expanding over time driven fundamentally by economic growth. The long term vision and policy direction provided by the South African Government regarding the future energy mix contemplates a balanced portfolio to meet the country’s energy needs in the most efficient and effective manner, whilst simultaneously balancing the country’s economic and social imperatives. This session will bring together a panel of experts to discuss these overarching significant issues, future energy programmes - baseload, mid merit, medium term risk mitigation and the challenges and opportunities presented to the industry.

This briefing will include a range of industry speakers, including: Ms Nelisiwe Magubane, Director General, Department of Energy; Mr Ompi Aphane, Deputy Director General, Department of Energy; Lena Mangondo, Director, Corporate Law (PPP's), National Treasury and Mr Yousuf Haffejee, Senior Manager, Single Buyer Office, Eskom.
