As the continent progresses the Priority Action Plan of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa, the experiences of companies and industry experts already involved in transnational energy projects is valuable knowledge to share. When it comes to their implementation, such programmes are creating tremendous challenges for even the most seasoned investors. Challenges often include involvement of more than one African country, as well as variations in language, currency, financial capacity and maturity of public institutions. It is against this backdrop that insights into how current projects are pioneering new paths when it comes to sovereign arrangements, cross border financing, project delivery and choice of generation will be useful to anyone looking to deliver on new cross border investments in Africa.
