The Law on the Liberalisation of the Turkish Railway Transportation heralds a new era in the railway transportation in Turkey. Previously under the monopoly of the General Directorate of Turkish Railways, the law lays the tracks for the sector’s liberalisation through its privatisation. The session will look at: The lessons learned from privatisation of railway sector in other countries, and consider challenges and issues arising from the Law on the Liberalisation of the Turkish Railway Transportation.
