Event Summary:
With diverse country policy frameworks and interventions, slow economic growth forecasts and no renewed EU targets, are EU renewable growth aspirations realistic?

- According to a recent industry report, Europe is set to halve greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector by 2030 by securing nearly $1tr of investments in renewable energy technologies.
- Are costs falling rapidly enough to enable onshore wind and solar in Europe to be subsidy free during the 2020s? Is the huge forecasted boom in rooftop solar really achievable or desirable?
- In the UK new offshore wind investment is forecast to reach a $100bn by 2030 but will the auction process for the CFD FIT constrained by the Levy Control Framework be sufficient for the level of build out currently anticipated? What is the future for the onshore wind market? Is the CFD FIT bankable and if so on better or worse terms than those offered today?
