IPFA Asia: Singapore: Lessons for LNG to Power Projects and the Development of Small-scale LNG Import Projects in Asia
Growing interest has been shown in LNG to power projects across Asia, as marked by the number of proposed project developments intended to address the increasing needs of power generation and shortage of domestic gas supplies in certain parts of the region.
At present, LNG to power projects in Asia are still in their infancy and none have reached a final investment decision nor commercial operations. Whilst every market bears its own unique characteristics, many valuable and practical lessons can be learnt from precedent projects (e.g. Malta LNG to power project) which have been successfully financed and operationalised.
Closely related to LNG to power projects, is the development of small scale LNG import projects including matters relating to fuel supply procurement and development of import infrastructure. For this session, we have invited expert speakers and panellists to share their views on lessons for LNG to power projects and also the challenges faced by small-scale LNG import project development in Asia.
