IPFA UK: London: Private Finance in the Rail Industry

The rail sector provides a key opportunity in the UK for the introduction of private investment to infrastructure enhancements. The recent publication from Network Rail sets out a number of possible projects and the DfT seems keen to look at how the “track and train” can be better integrated. Our keynote from Network Rail will provide an overview of their capital plan and opportunities for private investment in new infrastructure followed by a panel discussion covering some of the topics below.

- How might a model work for franchise owners/NR?
- What are the objectives for DfT
- Can the digital railway involve private finance
- Role of private developers – who can take the development risk
- Future rolling stock opportunities
- East-West Rail and HS2 opportunities
