IPFA East Africa: Nairobi: Making the Difference to Affordable Housing Projects in Kenya

Affordable Housing in Kenya is currently a hot topic falling squarely into the Kenyan Government’s Big Four Agenda. The social, civic, fiscal and economic benefits that accrue when communities encourage the development of affordable homes are well documented throughout the world, but do we know enough detail about how we as industry leaders can truly make a difference to growing the affordable housing market and developing successful projects?

Our interactive discussion will share the experiences of our panellists who bring diverse expertise in the area of affordable housing - from planning and design though to the latest construction trends and end user requirements.

Topics for discussion include:
• Trends in design, town planning and what it is that end users want
• What makes such housing projects affordable
• How we can keep the costs in line and meet end user requirements
• Regeneration and redevelopment innovations
• Reducing project risk and where the project challenges lie
• Support required from government and municipalities to make such projects a success for everyone
• Practical examples of successful projects and programmes from elsewhere in Africa and abroad
