IPFA Europe: Madrid: Successful Implementation of International Standards for Environmental & Social Management for Project Financing

Access to capital and project finance is a key aspect of infrastructure development; this is progressively subject to increasing social scrutiny, not just about the environmental and social impact of the project but also to the governance aspects of the intervening partners. Effective implementation of Environmental & Social (E&S) international standards is paramount to lenders /investors to protect their reputation and help ensure Compliance with regulations and voluntary commitments as well as to borrowers to guarantee “bankable’ or ‘fit for finance”.

In this event, we will focus on the main E&S requirements to consider and some of the typical "hot topics". To illustrate this, we will use a case study that was brought to completion successfully. This will be followed by an expert panel with representatives of borrowers (Construction Company), lenders (financing bank) and independent consultant. They will address the challenges and opportunities of integrating E&S along the project cycle, as well as how to meet eligibility criteria to ensure "fit-for-finance"
