Developing the transport, energy, telecommunications and urban infrastructure assets in the Middle East that meet demand and can adapt to evolving needs and future technical capabilities, including automation, artificial intelligence, and ‘smart’ infrastructure, may be challenging and will require careful structuring. In this breakfast session, our presenter and panelists, drawing on international experience and local know-how, will seek to address and discuss some of the opportunities and challenges arising from the development of sustainable cities with a specific focus on financing and investment and would cover, amongst other issues, legal risks associated with sustainable cities, the role of regulation, specific challenges that the development of sustainable cities present from a financing/funding perspective, what governments are doing around the world to incentivise investment in sustainable cities and the threat of cyber risks (and why it is important).
