IPFA Americas: Toronto: Exporting Canada’s PPP Expertise Abroad: Practical Considerations and Summer Networking Drinks Reception
This event will be followed by a cocktail reception on the Deloitte terrace.
Emerging Markets and Developing Economies around the world are confronting a glaring
infrastructure deficit. In an effort to narrow the infrastructure deficit, governments and IDOs
are increasingly turning to the private sector for financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure projects. Different models of Private Sector Participation (PSP) in infrastructure projects, and specifically through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), have emerged as important tools that governments use to close the infrastructure gap — however, many of these jurisdictions lack the knowledge and experience to effectively plan and implement PPP/PSP projects.
In contrast, Canada’s PPP market is mature and well established — the Canadian approachand positive results have earned it a “best-in-class” reputation. Firms who have long established themselves as key players in the Canadian infrastructure market have developed the technical, financial, and delivery experience sought after for PPP/PSP execution in these new markets, resulting in a great opportunity for firms with Canadian expertise to add significant value to the planning and execution of PPPs/PSPs.
This event will describe some experiences of active local PPP/PSP players “exporting” their Canadian PPP/PSP experience abroad. The discussion will include the positioning of the Canadian competitive advantage, as well as practical consideration for entering and succeeding in the global infrastructure community.
This event will be followed by a networking summer drinks reception. Please join us for a cocktail on the Deloitte terrace.
