IPFA Asia: Hong Kong: Going Green(er): The Future of Energy Procurement in Vietnam
Vietnam continues to procure coal fired power stations but, given the global policy trend towards cleaner energy, those projects are going to become more challenging to develop and finance for the international investors with which Vietnam has become familiar. In recognition of this, Vietnam is embarking on an ambitious new programme of domestic gas IPPs and LNG to power, and is evolving its legal framework for solar and wind projects. As Vietnam seeks to close out its planned coal projects and also diversify its energy mix, what can it do to encourage and manage new investment in multiple technologies and what lessons can it learn from elsewhere in South East Asia. We will assemble a panel of energy experts, with significant Vietnam and regional experience to answer these questions and more.
