IPFA Australia: Sydney: Renewable Grid 2.0: Constraints and Opportunities
The rapid rise of renewables is challenging long-held assumptions about the volume, location and timing of supply and demand within the National Electricity Market. This is putting increasing pressure on ageing grid infrastructure and regulatory systems which were designed for a very different energy mix. In this session, a panel of experts will discuss various challenges and developments currently being wrestled with by renewables investors and lenders, including:
- System strength issues, including risks of curtailment
- CoGaTI Review
- Negative pricing issues, including localised semi-dispatch caps, renewable energy generator bidding strategies and the effect of rooftop PV
- Bankability developments, including re bifacial modules and merchant projects
- Battery Storage developments, including financing challenges (revenue modelling, arbitrage, FCAS, etc)
