IPFA UK: London FLN: Infracafe - The Future of Infrastructure Funding
With the Spring Budget on the horizon, the Infrastructure Finance Review and the Government’s commitment to publish a National Infrastructure Strategy, talking about how we pay for future investments is a hot topic.
Funding for future infrastructure delivery is arguably wide open. With industry pushing for new models of ownership, society opinion arguably shaped by failures, increasing ESG awareness on behalf of investors, alongside economic growth aspirations that can only be delivered through infrastructure; there is much to discuss. Not least, who pays, who finances or both? While our respective spending reviews and National Infrastructure Strategy may offer further clarity, we want to debate what the next generation see as opportunities to evolve.
Our Infracafé will ask questions and drive discussion, by engaging our younger generation to explore infrastructure spending. What does the next generation think about project funding? Hearing lessons learnt from various perspectives – economics, consultancy, project finance – how can we take those lessons forward into future procurement models? What’s the opportunity for the industry to lead change?
Finally, as we develop capability to harness smart data on our asset operations, how can we use that to shift the funding model? What does predictive analytics offer to shift the way investors see a return on infrastructure?
These questions, and more, will shape our Infracafé. Come along to hear expertise and insights from our panel of industry experts and emerging professionals.
