Charging Ahead with Batteries in the NEM - Developing and Financing an Emerging Technology

The National Electricity Market is struggling with the transition from traditional centrally located energy generation using fossil fuels to distributed energy generation using renewable sources. We are seeing a plethora of regulatory responses and a focus on new technological solutions. Energy Storage Systems are potentially one of the solutions to these issues. Ashurst has acted on 3 of the 4 utility scale battery projects developed in Australia and are currently working on a number of proposed battery projects. Presenters from Ashurst will give an insight into the rise of batteries, the economics behind them, the contracting strategy and the approach to funding battery projects.
