IPFA Europe: Brussels FLN
Site Visit: Albert Canal
Important notice: this site visit has been postponed.
With the escalation of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) a number of our members are facing strict travel and meeting attendance restrictions. In light of these concerns, we have postponed this site visit from its original date of 30 June. Once we have confirmed a new date, we will inform members by sending out an email announcement and updating our website.
IPFA would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused. However, the health and safety of members and staff is our priority.
Due to some changes in our event schedule, over the coming months we will be producing an increased amount of content for members to access online. You can find our current online content on our website, including industry presentations and webinars.
Keep an eye out for announcements by following us on LinkedIn and by making sure that you are subscribed to the appropriate mailing lists - existing users should visit this page and new users can sign up here.
We invite our Future Leader community to join us on a site tour of the Albert Canal.
The challenge for the Vlaamse Waterweg is to raise the 62 bridges over the Albert Canal to a clearance height of 9.10 m by 2022. The most complex bridges - 15 in total - have been bundled into two separate PPP projects, in which the bridges will be rebuilt based on a DBFM formula. The consortium ‘via T Albert’, comprising Willemen Groep (Willemen Infra & Franki Construct), Hye and Aelterman, has been awarded the contract for both PPP projects.
Starting from 21 of June there will be a steel bridge of 123 meters on an assembly site, which is the bridge located in Lummen. Attendees will be given an introduction to the project by the project managers over breakfast followed by the site visit where there will be the opportunity to also see some civil works (formworks, concrete pouring to name a few).
Please be advised that due to limited capacity of 30 and the nature of the tour we can only accept 1 registration per organisation.
This event will be held in English.
The agenda for this event will be announced shortly.
