Event Summary:

UK Economic Outlook- Possibilities & Expectations

Covid-19 has resulted in an unprecedented shock to the UK economy, with the pathway to recovery remaining particularly uncertain.  With the UK now officially in recession, following two record-breaking quarters of economic contraction, the near-term impact of Covid-19 has been stark.  As the Government and the Bank of England continues to evaluate the quantum and duration of support measures already announced, many in the infrastructure sector have been re-evaluating the prospects for new projects.  Join EY’s senior economist, Peter Arnold, for a keynote address on the UK economic outlook, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from right across the sector.

- How has COVID-19 affected market expectations for UK infrastructure investments and key projects?
- Which sub-sectors are the potential winners and losers for prospective infrastructure investment in the near term?
- How have the capital markets been impacted by COVID-19 and what impact will that have on the funding of UK infrastructure?
- Can private capital fill the funding gap left by a Government that has been required to take extraordinary economic support measures during the height of the crisis?
