On March 14, the EU Parliament voted by a clear majority in favour of stricter rules in the reform of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
Besides, the amendment of the Renewable Energy Act (Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz) 2023 is the largest amendment in law regarding (solar) energy in Germany in decades.
And the Building Energy Act (Gebäudeenergiegesetz) determines that from 1th January 2024, every newly installed heating system (new and existing buildings) must use at least 65 percent renewable energy.
The new “Green Legislation” is a major contributor to climate neutrality in Germany.
However, do the new regulation consider also the “social” idea of ESG enough?
