Energy Transition Pathways – Roadmap for ASEAN: Policy, Financing and Technology Considerations
Global perceptions on climate risk have changed drastically over the past few years. 54 large investors, which together manage more than US$14tn in assets, have called on companies to disclose a plan to cut their greenhouse gases. 50% of global greenhouse gas emissions originate in the Asia-Pacific region. ASEAN countries are among the top global suppliers of major mineral and metal products.
The ASEAN region has so far been largely reliant on coal for much of its mining output, so just transition is a challenge. ASEAN countries have therefore set themselves several targets. The session will discuss the energy transition pathways adopted by both government and private entities in the region and the tools they are employing to achieve their net zero goals.
