The Evolution of Contracting in Australia's NEM

WE HAVE REACHED CAPACITY FOR THIS EVENT AND THERE IS CURRENTLY A WAITLIST.

PLEASE EMAIL THE APAC OPERATIONS MANAGER, SAMANTHA BEST ON samantha.best@ipfa.org if you would like to be placed on this waitlist.

There are an increasing number of investment signals for renewables, storage and gas in Australia’s NEM that sit outside the wholesale market: increasingly sophisticated renewable PPAs with corporates and utilities; various battery contracts (e.g., virtual storage contracts) or tolling agreements; as well as new government-backed contracts (e.g., generation & storage LTESAs in NSW, CIS contracts from the Federal Govt, etc).

The goal of these projects is both to accelerate renewable & storage deployment, and to de-risk project economics (often by providing revenue floors).

This session will explore how contracting is evolving in the NEM, as well as the risks that are increasingly hard to forecast and mitigate – e.g, negative prices, grid losses & curtailment.
