Energy security and the Path to Net Zero

Balancing the dual goals of security and sustainability has never been so vital for the energy transition. Russia's invasion of the Ukraine and global inflationary pressures have disrupted all energy markets and resulted in a shift of focus away from sustainability towards fundamentals of energy security, reliability and affordability. The re-election of President Trump and his "drill baby drill" mantra has also resulted in many major companies re-evaluating their net zero commitments. What does this mean for Australia's energy transition?

The session will explore:

- The geo-political landscape and impacts on global energy markets. What are the opportunities and challenges for those financing Australia's energy transition.
- Australia's policy settings for a balanced energy system that is reliable, affordable and sustainable - are they right?
