Energy Transition in 2026 - Stepping on the Gas or the Brakes?

2025 was a year of geopolitical turbulence marked by escalating trade tensions, military standoffs, and also one that saw AI enthusiasm reach new heights. No sign 2026 will be a change of course. It was also marked the ten-year anniversary of the Paris agreement and net zero ambitions*. From that initial push, the investment community and energy industry have wizened up to the challenges of the energy transition. It is not a linear path brown to green shift, nor a linear path to market-beating returns.

Three themes of the panel discussion will include:

The Economics of Decarbonization: Real-world carbon price expectations across Asia and project economics.

Scenario Planning: Managing risk in a geopolitically turbulent energy market.

The "Smart Bets": Identifying where capital will flow in the next five years.

*The scene set was scripted before the Trump Administration announced the withdrawal of the US from the UNFCC, IPCC etc. and before the Middle East conflict was ignited. Each topic will no doubt feature too.
