Visit to Ghent’s Most Sustainable Neighbourhood – ‘De Nieuwe Dokken’

De Nieuwe Dokken in Ghent is a privately developed urban district where sustainable living is part of everyday life. The neighborhood, home to around 400 apartments and houses, brings together smart design and shared systems for energy, water, waste, and mobility.

The district treats its own wastewater, produces renewable energy, and recovers valuable resources from wastewater and kitchen waste. These services are managed by DuCoop, a sustainability cooperative that provides residents with heating, water, waste services, and electric mobility—making circular living simple and practical.

During this walking guided tour, you will have the unique opportunity to visit the technical installations and gain insight into the business case behind this circular neighborhood.

N.B. there is limited capacity at this site visit so only 2 attendees per company will be confirmed to attend.
