Sustainable Transport and Climate-Resilient Infrastructure in Africa

Commissioned and funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the University of Oxford and SOAS University of London are undertaking research into private finance for transport infrastructure in Africa and the wider need for climate-resilient infrastructure. As governments, development finance institutions and private investors seek to accelerate investment across the continent and the wider Global South, questions remain around project bankability, risk allocation and financing structures. This roundtable will bring together infrastructure practitioners actively involved in financing and delivering transport and utility projects in Africa to discuss the challenges facing the market and identify practical solutions.

The event is chaired by Caroline Lytton, COO and Executive Director of the Oxford Smith School, and facilitated by:

 - Professor Antonio Andreoni, Professor of Development Economics & Co-Director of the Centre for Sustainable Structural Transformation, SOAS University of London
 - Professor Sam Fankhauser, Interim Director & Professor of Climate Change Economics, Oxford Smith School
 - Professor Ulrich Volz, Director & Professor of Economics, Centre for Sustainable Finance, SOAS University of London
