IPFA Continental Europe
Energy Security in Times of Geopolitical Turmoil
** Please note, this event will be held in German.**
As geopolitical tensions reshape global energy markets, ensuring reliable and affordable energy supply has become a strategic imperative. This session will cut through the noise and ask the hard questions: Are permitting delays and regulatory uncertainty a greater obstacle to investment than geopolitical risks? Is project finance still the right model for the energy transition or do we need new structures? Practitioners from across the market will debate where capital is flowing, where it is stuck, and what needs to change.
Discussion Points:
- Are German permitting processes and regulatory fragmentation the single biggest risk for energy infrastructure investors and what is the government doing about it?
- Guns or green? Europe's rearmament drive is absorbing billions in capital. Is defence spending competing with the energy transition for the same pool of investment, and what does that mean for infrastructure financing?
- Is traditional project finance fit for purpose in the energy transition or do hydrogen, grid and storage projects require fundamentally new financing structures?
- Public money as catalyst or crutch? The role of KfW, EIB and EU funding mechanisms in de-risking private investment in European energy infrastructure.
