Second Life: The Future of the UK's First Renewables

As the UK's earliest renewable energy assets approach the end of their original design life, a new wave of investment, refinancing and strategic decision-making is emerging. Repowering is becoming an increasingly important opportunity for asset owners, developers, investors, funders and advisers seeking to maximise value from established projects while supporting long-term energy transition ambitions.

Join industry leaders to explore the commercial, technical, legal and financing considerations shaping the future of existing renewable energy infrastructure. Discussion topics will include repowering versus life extension, planning and consenting challenges, grid connection reform, routes to market, project economics, land rights, and the often-overlooked risks that can determine project success.

This session is intended to be a practical, interactive discussion, bringing together perspectives from across the market including developers, asset owners, investors, lenders, advisers and policymakers. We are particularly pleased that Great British Energy is expected to contribute to the conversation.

Interested in joining the discussion?

We are currently gauging interest from the market. If this topic is relevant to your organisation and you would like to participate, speak on the panel, or contribute perspectives to the discussion, please contact Laura Benfield at connect@ipfa.org for an initial conversation.

This event is expected to be of particular interest to renewable energy developers, asset owners, investors, lenders, technical advisers, legal advisers and public sector stakeholders involved in the future of UK renewable energy infrastructure.
